The Story

The Color of Silence A Dreamers' Dragon Novel — Prequel

Atlanta, 1930s. Darius Turner does not speak. In his silent world, he is misunderstood — a boy whose family loves him fiercely but cannot reach him, in a time before the world had words for what made him different.

But in the realm of dreams, something ancient has been watching. A jewel-scaled dragon named Azure has been waiting for Darius — not to fix him, not to change him, but to show him what he has always been.

A story of hope, resilience, and the unbreakable bond between a mother and her son.

About the Author

CJ Gryffin

CJ Gryffin is a special education teacher with nearly ten years of experience working alongside middle school students with diverse learning needs. Every day in her classroom shapes the stories she tells.

In 2008, she woke from a dream about a boy named Darius and a dragon — and spent the next years finding the words to tell his story with the honesty and depth it deserved.

The Color of Silence is her debut novel. She believes every child deserves to see themselves in the pages of a book — not as a symbol, but as someone worthy of adventure, belonging, and wonder.
